HFT 3423
Hospitality Information Technology

This course introduces students to the basic concepts of computers hardware and software as applicable to the hospitality industry. Students acquire a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, PMS and RMS systems. The course will cover theoretical and practical issues, as applied to businesses in general, and to the hospitality industry in particular.

 

Biography

Dr. Xiaoming is currently the assistant clinical professor and IT director of Hospitality and Tourism Information Technology Lab in Marriott Tianjin China Program. He obtained his doctorate degree in computer science and technology from National University of Defense Technology, China.

Dr. Xiaoming has strong IT project background in hospitality information technology, computing network, grid, digital library, distributed object system, digital video surveillance and quality system. As a post-doctorate researcher in Digital Media Lab of Chinese Academy of Sciences, he spent two years on researching of digital library, which later becomes the largest digital library cooperative project between US and China.

Dr. Xiaoming actively takes part in the important international project cooperation events. During his researching in Supercomputing Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences, he successfully organized 500 CPUs in CNGrid to support Plugtests 2005 project in France, which is the first time for Chinese computer resources to attend international cooperative project in a large scale.

Dr. Xiaoming has rich experience in IT team management, training and operation. In 2002, he founded his first software company with ten software engineers.
