Bio
Dr. Mark D’Alessandro is an Adjunct Lecturer at Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. He has held a faculty appointment with the Chaplin School since 2011 and has taught both in-person and online courses in culinary arts, restaurant management, and hospitality management. Dr. D’Alessandro holds an associate degree from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College in culinary arts, a baccalaureate degree from Florida International University in Hospitality Management, a Master of Philosophy from The CUNY Graduate Center, a Master of Arts from New York University in Food Studies, and Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center in Earth and Environmental Science.
Prior to joining the Chaplin School, he cooked professionally and worked as a fish and meat butcher in Cincinnati, Ohio, Columbia, South Carolina, and Miami, Florida. Additionally, he is the Tourism & Hospitality Department Chair at The City University of New York's Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, New York. He served as the Culinary Arts Program Director from 2016 - 2023 managing a certificate, and associate of applied science degree. Dr. D'Alessandro is a tenured Associate Professor at CUNY where he teaches basic and advanced culinary arts and baking and pastry courses.
