Bio
Before transitioning into academia, Chef Jeremy Houghton built an extensive career as a chef and hospitality manager, working in diverse foodservice operations across Alaska, New Mexico, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Florida, New York, North Carolina, and Virginia. His passion for wine has taken him to renowned wine regions including Sonoma Valley, Napa Valley, France, and Germany, where he conducted industry research and expanded his expertise.
In addition to his teaching career, Chef Houghton founded his own hospitality consulting firm, helping launch four successful restaurants in North Carolina. He also operated a personal chef business, serving NASCAR drivers, celebrities, and entrepreneurs throughout the East Coast. His international teaching experience includes delivering educational programs in Europe and Singapore on subjects ranging from American wine culture to Western culinary techniques. Today, he collaborates with The Sommelier Company in California, leading virtual wine, bourbon, and spirits tastings for audiences across the United States.
