Marvin and Hazel Shanken Scholarship
About The Scholarship
To honor Marvin Shanken—the creator, publisher, editor and producer some of the most widely read and attended hospitality industry publications and events, e.g., Wine Spectator, Cigar Aficionado—and his wife, Hazel, The Marvin and Hazel Shanken Scholarship Fund will look to elevate the next generation of hospitality students. In the pursuit of a greater sense of belonging in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, The Marvin and Hazel Shanken Scholarship Fund will be a once renewable scholarship reserved for junior, senior and graduate students.
Understanding the industry’s need to enhance the student pipeline across senior levels of the hospitality and tourism industry, this scholarship fund will total $7,700 per academic year—and is intended to cover recipients’ room, board and or tuition expenses. The Marvin and Hazel Shanken Scholarship Fund will initially support up to four students per academic year—expanding as the fund size grows.
