Curtis Crider: A Visionary Leader in Miami’s Hospitality and Business Community

Curtis Crider’s career is a testament to his passion for hospitality, business leadership, and a compassion to serve his community. A Miami native, Crider has spent over three decades shaping the region’s luxury service, food & beverage, and hospitality industries. His journey is defined by his ability to drive operational excellence, foster business growth, and elevate customer experiences through visionary leadership.

Born with an innate ability to transform businesses, Crider’s rise to prominence began in Miami’s dynamic hospitality sector. His expertise in strategic planning, revenue growth, and organizational management positioned him as a key figure in South Florida’s business landscape. Over the years, he has held influential roles in renowned establishments, each time leaving a lasting impact.

Recently promoted as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association (GMBHA), Crider was most recently the organization’s Interim President and Chief Executive Officer, spearheading the organization’s efforts in advocacy, event management, budgeting, and membership expansion. Originally brought on as a consultant to assist with leadership transition, he swiftly assumed the role of CEO and President, leveraging his industry knowledge to enhance GMBHA’s reach and effectiveness.

Prior to his leadership at GMBHA, Crider made significant contributions to Jungle Island Resort, where he held various executive roles, including Chairman, President & Managing Director, and General Manager. His tenure saw the development of an 18.6-acre eco-adventure park, the launch of Miami’s first private beach club, and the revitalization of Jungle Island’s operations. His strategic approach led to multimillion-dollar funding and revenue growth, ensuring Jungle Island’s continued success.

Crider’s impact on Miami’s hospitality industry extends beyond Jungle Island. At Sonesta Coconut Grove Hotel, he served as General Manager, overseeing financial operations, strategic planning, and brand positioning. His leadership resulted in increased revenue, improved employee satisfaction, and a strengthened brand reputation. Earlier in his career, he played a pivotal role at Sonesta Beach Resort & Spa in Key Biscayne, managing hotel operations and elevating guest experiences.

Beyond his executive roles, Crider has been an active force in Miami’s business community. He is a long-standing Member of the Board of Directors for the Coconut Grove Arts Festival & Historical Society, and previous Vice President Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce, and a past member of the marketing committee for Coconut Grove Business Improvement District. His dedication to the industry is reflected in numerous awards, including General Manager of the Year and Business of the Year from the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce and the Community Involvement Award from the City of Miami Mayor. His commitment to excellence has not only driven his professional success but has also positioned him as a mentor and leader within the hospitality sector.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Crider is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his wife Fernanda and his two sons, Curtis Jr. and Joseph. His story is one of perseverance, vision, and an unwavering commitment to elevating Miami’s hospitality and business community
