Bio

John Boettger is the Managing Director for the U.S. lodging platform for Westmont Hospitality Group where he is responsible for all aspects of hotel operations, investment and ownership for a family office including acquisitions, financing, asset management and capital investment for a diverse lodging platform that includes over 100 hotels in the full-service, luxury, resort, all-suite economy, and extended stay segments.

Previously, John served as a Senior Vice President with Park Hotels & Resorts (PK), a publicly traded lodging real estate investment trust (REIT) with a total enterprise value of $6 billion. Park is also the largest owner of Hilton branded hotels including several of their most iconic assets such as the 2,860 room Hilton Hawaiian Village and the 1,800 room Hilton New York Midtown.

Prior to the spin-off of Park Hotels & Resorts in January 2017, John was a Senior Vice President with Hilton where his team was responsible for all the real estate and asset management activities for Hilton’s owned, leased and joint venture hotels in North and South America. The portfolio, totaling 57 assets and over 33,000 guest rooms. During his tenure with Hilton John was part of the team that sold the Waldorf Astoria, New York and subsequently re-deployed the $2.0 billion in proceeds by acquiring five assets including two properties with over 1,200 guest rooms that were re-flagged to Hilton brands.

John joined Hilton from Axios Hospitality Real Estate where he was a Managing Director and the head of asset and portfolio management. Axios was the operating and asset management platform for hospitality investments owned by entities of Blackstone and Blackstone Real Estate Advisors throughout Europe. At its peak, Axios was responsible for a portfolio of over 80 branded hotels and some 20,000 guest rooms in 10 countries including France, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

John holds an associates degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University, a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Florida International University and a Master of Business Administration in finance and investments from The George Washington University.

He is a past president and board member of the Hospitality Asset Managers Association (HAMA), the lodging industry’s only organization focused solely on asset management. He was is a member of the AHLA Hotel Development Roundtable and a member of the DoubleTree owner advisory council and Hyatt’s franchise advisory council. John is a contributing author to both editions of the only definitive text on the topic of hospitality asset management: “Hotel Asset Management, Principles & Practices”.
