Bio

Matthew began his studies at Florida International University with a major in Hospitality Management and a minor in Beverage Management. He continued his studies at Siebel institute of Technology receiving a certification in Brewing Technology. Afterwards, returned to be an instructor for the FIU brewing program for an additional 2 years.

After schooling, Matthew consulted for Miami Brewing Company, and later joined The Tank Brewing Company in 2014, where he took the brewery from building a business plan to buildout and launch. While at The Tank Brewing, the brewery won multiple awards including a Gold Medal at the World Beer Cup for their Saison, La Finca Miami.

After 4.5 years with The Tank Brewing Company as Head Brewer, he joined Cerveceria La Tropical as Plant Manager, where he currently works. At Cerveceria La Tropical, he worked with the CEO of Cerveceria La Tropical, Heineken and Lagunitas to design, build, and launch their new joint venture brewery in Wynwood, Miami, Cerveceria La Tropical. The goal was to design a state-of-the-art brewery capable of both standard craft beer production as well as become leaders in innovation in both beer and beyond beer products. The brewery opened its doors in 2021. In 2023, he completed the Heineken Master Brewer program and received a Heineken Master Brewer Certification on the 12th of July.

Currently Matthew manages the brewery for Cerveceria La Tropical and is also developing numerous innovation products for the future of the brand including beer, cocktail inspired beers, Ready to Drink cocktails, as well as Non-Alcoholic beer and other beverage offerings.
